I know, y'all saw this picture already in the previous post, but I thought I'd include it here as well. As you can see, Debi and I are very happy doing what we do. Working with all the fabulous people in the kiosk is one of many "perks" we enjoy while helping meet and greet all the visitors to our park.
One of the great opportunities is hosting the Junior Rangers. This program is open to all campers aged 7-12 although we welcome parents and siblings of any age. Part of the program is awareness of our environment and wildlife within the park system. We also do hikes and group activities.
Improving the park is also something we are allowed to do as part of our volunteering. This was a simple path leading to one of the bath houses. I widened it, cleaned it of weeds and debris, laid a bed of gravel and outlined it with river rock. Added some lighting to enhance safety.
Another improvement by adding a path to the bath house in the tent section. Simple improvements, such as these, add a lot to the enjoyment provided to our visitors by making it easier for them to access our facilities.
Now that this year's commitment has ended, it's time to say good-bye to all the friends we've met and dealt with during the year. What better way to do so than to have a BBQ and party! Enjoy the pictures!
The weather was beautiful until the sun went down, then it was time to build the fire and put on our jackets.
A special thanks to two very special ladies, Senior Park Aides. Without their help and support, our stay would have been less enjoyable. Camp hosting is supposed to be fun and exciting. These two ladies made it both every day! Yes, we've been invited to return in the future and are really looking forward to meeting up again.
