It's nice to be settled and comfortable once again. We are in Las Vegas, kicking back and doing nothing. After grooming our site, we went to the pool for several hours yesterday. The spa felt good after a couple grueling days. We originally planned on leaving Salt Lake City and stopping in Beaver Ut. However, there's not much there and the truck stop where we planned on staying was packed and way too much action, so we proceeded to Mesquite Nevada. We stayed at a nice casino lot behind their hotel. (Virgin Casino Resort) Security guards came by every hour or so to check on the RVs. Very nice touch. From Mesquite, it's only about a 90 minute cruise into Las Vegas. It's warm here, upper 80s and the sun feels good. We are far enough off the Strip so there's no noise at all...either traffic, train or airplane. Just a relaxing place to be. Tomorrow is a shopping day for food and supplies. Debi wants to go downtown and see the changes as it's been awhile since we were here last. We also want to head over to Hoover dam while we're here to see the completed bridge. It was under construction when we came through last.....
As we headed south from Salt Lake City, we found many orchards and farms. Most were very neatly kept and healthy looking. This was a beautifully kept multi story home nestled in an orchard. Alas, there were no signs telling us what kind of orchard it was.
Here's another example of a beautiful ranch home out in the middle on nowhere in midwest Utah. This one just north of Beaver.
We encountered some pretty desolate stretches of highway.
But, of course, work never ends for the farmers of our country. These hard workers are up at the crack of dawn and work until the sun goes down. Unlike us, they rarely get vacations.....I admire their work ethic.
More stretches of the highway. If you look in the middle of the picture in the distance, you can see the road as it winds its' way through the mountain pass.
South of Beaver, the landscape changes as you climb up over the mountain ranges. Small trees take over from the scrub bushes of the flatlands.
Coming into St. George, you get a glimpse of the cliffs and outcroppings near Zion National Park.. We will be there in a couple weeks.
Now for you WalMart fans, here is a picture of the huge distribution center just outside St. George. Those white things are all trailers waiting to be filled with goodies for your buying pleasure.
South of St. George, you enter the State of Arizona before crossing into the State of Nevada. This is the top of the Virgin Canyon area of Arizona.
Here's a picture of the sun setting over the Nevada desert. Please excuse the bugs on the windshield....
