Cape Canaveral Florida

Since Orlando is located almost dead center of the State of Florida, we thought we would take a couple side trips with the kids....one to the Atlantic and one to the Gulf of Mexico. Debi and I will be returning to Cocoa Beach later this month or early in September, so I'll post more information at that time. Meanwhile, here are a few tidbits of our short visit there....

Cape Canaveral Florida, home of the Kennedy Space Center. We will visit that later in August or September when we pass through here again. This is a quick visit to the Atlantic.

No trip to Cocoa Beach would be complete without a stop at Ron Jon's Surf Shop.

The Port of Cape Canaveral is home to several cruise lines that provide 3,4,7 and 8 day cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

We spent a very leisurely day relaxing on the beach while the kids frolicked in the ocean.

Back in Orlando, Disney World awaits those who dare to venture into the fantasy world that is Disney.

Parking, by the way, is $17/day per vehicle.

The Disney Bay Lake Tower Hotel.

The monorail passes right through the hotel entrance to whisk you away to adventure.

To get around Disney World, you can either drive, walk, bicycle, golf cart, bus or monorail. Lots of choices. My preference is monorail or bus. Here we see both passing by each other. The monorail is enroute to the hotel, the bus to the park.

While we were in the area, we visited Fort Wilderness RV Resort. While we found the campground to be well kept, the spaces would be fine for smaller coaches. Anything over 35' would be tight. Our 45' with four slides would not fit in most of the spaces.

Our day adventure over, we headed back to the serenity of our home.

Upon our arrival we found we had a new visitor. He hid when Jasmine came to smell. I snapped a couple pictures and left him to scurry away to one of his holes.

This guy was waiting too. He squawked and carried on looking for more Cheerios. The rangers asked that campers not feed these guys so he was out of luck today....
After a long day at the beach, a nice warm bath and a bottle is the perfect ending to the day.
