Today was another stunning sunny day on the Oregon Coast and Dunes. Since we had the sand board for the day, we planned on more sand boarding. Jasmine and I started our day with a complete walk around the campground....1.5 miles...it is very peaceful here early in the morning. After breakfast, we decided to hit the dunes as the "board" needed to be returned by 4pm.  Debi packed picnic lunches with the intent to do some sand boarding then a long walk on the beach to look for treasures...After several hours on the dunes, we were done....it was agreed, the beach and picnic would happen tomorrow...back at the coach, we had sandwiches and Debi and I went to the jacuzzi. Josh, for the first time ever, didn't want to go to the pool but just wanted to sit and vegge....we finally wore out a 12 yr old..!!!! I must admit, climbing those sand dunes takes a whole lot of energy. Even Jasmine was tuckered out...

No, this isn't the Sahara Desert....it's just the Oregon Dunes. Debi pulled up her hoodie because the wind was whipping the sand up pretty good. Josh and I, being guys, toughed it out with shorts and T-shirts....:)

This is the view from the top of one of the Dunes. There is a very pretty, and clean but cold, river that runs alongside. Just over the rise of trees lies the Pacific Ocean....

Not exactly graceful as a swan, but here Josh is trying to grab some air and turn the board while blasting downhill.... BTW..sand gets in EVERYTHING...!

The above trick didn't work as well as planned so let's try leaving the board behind and see if we can fly......

For those planning a trip to the Oregon Dunes, or even Pismo Beach, look into renting a sand board. They are a lot of fun and after a few hours you will be totally exhausted. I even tried it and found it to be pretty easy. Sand Boarding is slower than snow boarding but you feel more in control of the board. I've included a video on this page so you can see how much fun it truly is.....
